The Resilient Organic Community – or *ROC project* – is an important initiative of the NGO Eco-Sud to sustainably increase food security in Mauritius. The agroecological centres at Ville Noire will support beneficiaries through (i) a Solidarity Shop which will carry the distribution of foods and provide a psychological support program, (ii) a training area and the construction of food production kits (agro-kits) destined for the community, (iii) a soil amendments and compost-making facility, and (iv) plantations for food production.
Covid-19 Response 2021
NGO: Various
Funds were sought to support the purchase of food packs for vulnerable families and groceries to make meals for the homeless during the current period of confinement in Mauritius. Many homeless people, and families, were without employment, desperate for food. We were grateful to collaborate with our registered NGO partners who ensured that the food packs went to exactly where they were needed.
