Kool Kids
NGO Name: Bonheur Associe aux Enfants
Project Summary
A large, closed in common space at Bonheur Associe aux Enfants is used by the children as a computer room and for after school classes. At the rear of the room the space is used as an office and storage space for dry foodstuffs. Because the roofing is made of corrugated iron sheeting, the summer sun beats down causing the room to heat up considerably resulting in discomfort for those using the space and detrimental to the foodstuff. The heat has been so bad that two computers have already been damaged.
An air conditioner and two air curtains are required to cool down the space and make it more comfortable and safe for use. Three fans mounted in the common area will make the teaching/homework area more bearable in the tropical summer heat.
Detailed Proposal
Bonheur Associe aux Enfants supports 75 children under 19 years of age. Lunch is prepared and distributed every school day for 65 of the beneficiaries. 45 children are welcomed three days during the week after school in order to help them with their studies. A computer room with 3 computers is available for educational research which helps the beneficiaries cope with their studies and improve their academic performance.
The room where the computers and foodstuff are stored is closed in with a corrugated iron roof. Because of this the room heats up considerably making the room unbearable to work in and damaging the computers/electronic equipment and food stuff. The purchase and fittings of an air-conditioning system with air curtain in a space that has been renovated to be used as a computer room, classes store and office to cover a space of 4.10m x 4.05m, will assist the staff and children enormously.
Three large fans are also required in a space of 9m x7.65m which is used for classes and to help the children concentrate.
