Project Summary

This project will sustain the activities of ‘La Ferme Nou Leritaz’ directly supporting 266 families currently engaged in sustainable agriculture and income generating activities through their own micro enterprises.

Project Overview

Over the past four years, the ENL Foundation team has worked on the setting up of ‘La Ferme Nou Leritaz’, an activity funded by the European Commission under the ‘Leave No One Behind Project’. This activity has reached 120 individuals through an integrated structure that encourages sustainable agriculture (organic planting and animal raising) and entrepreneurship, with an aim to promote self-sufficiency, food autonomy and income generation while boosting self-esteem and improving the wellbeing and resilience of vulnerable families.

Description of the action

‘La Ferme Nou Leritaz’, branded following a community consultation process, has emerged as an Integrated Agricultural Hub allowing vulnerable families to acquire the adequate agricultural equipment and gain skills and knowledge to improve their own livelihood. With its animal feed storage facilities, selling point, and training space, La Ferme Nou Leritaz emphasizes providing an inclusive space to vulnerable families who, through agriculture and entrepreneurship, are sustaining their livelihood.

This project proposal intends to specifically consolidate the rearing structure and support the sustainability of ‘La Ferme Nou Leritaz’ activities, mainly the agricultural (through rearing of animals and organic planting) and entrepreneurial (support of microentrepreneurs) aspects, by providing the following:

  1. 82 families engaged in sustainable farming through backyard rearing of layers, ducks and goats with training and coaching
  2. 6 families with the opportunity to cultivate their own food (e.g., on small plots of land)
  3. 115 families engaged in backyard gardening with technical advice, training, and support
  4. 63 micro entrepreneurs with ongoing follow up by a professional team

Through the consolidation and sustainability of this structure, the beneficiaries will be able to increase investment in their activities and sustain their livelihoods.
