Motilakaz was created in November 2020 by concerned citizens of Black River, in collaboration with Le Pont du Tamarinier, to tackle social housing issues in the region of Black River. In February 2021, Motilakaz joined forces with KRN (Kolektif Rivier Nwar) to help realise this project.
This first project was started in January 2021 at Karo Kalyptis in Case Noyale, led and completed by Audrey Dumee-Duval. Two families obtained a plot of land from the government. They needed to start the construction of their house before March 2021 due to the possible reappropriation of the land by the government. Motilakaz designed and built a house divided into 2 apartments of +/- total of 100 square meters for 5 people – 2 women and 3 children; aged between 10 and 56yrs.
Funds were provided by the I61 Foundation through our generous donors to cover the plumbing and electrical installation, as well as guttering and paving. These families now have beautiful homes to call their own.
Please Note: All information herein, in part or in whole, is that of the said NGO and not of the I61 Foundation. 100% of the funds raised will be allocated to the project. If you have any questions, we would be more than happy to answer them. Thank you for your consideration.
