Volunteer Opportunities

Various exciting volunteer opportunities are available within our registered NGO network. The varied opportunities include literacy programs with children and adults, construction work (including painting, building and gardening), garment upcycling and recycling, administration and computer work.   

Positions are available at various locations around the island. The position can be short- or long-term and include options of a single day, weekly or monthly, depending on the requirement of the NGO. 

At Volunteer Connect, we connect the volunteer with the NGO. Our database constantly grows along with the constantly changing needs of the various NGO’s. There are always new and exciting positions available.

Timing

On office days, once or twice a week. 2 hours a day minimum. Between 10am and 5pm.

Language required: English

Requirements: Part Time

Qualification or volunteer experience required: With some related experience in the field, any social work experience is also appreciated.

Basic outline/duties of the volunteer opportunity: Writing e-mails, poster/video/content creation for social media and advertising, keeping in touch with sponsors, document filing, etc.

Once a week 3pm – 4pm (long term)

La Pont Du Tamarinier is looking for a volunteer to assist children 6 years and under with their homework.

Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm

Mondays and Wednesdays from 4pm

Village Les Salines

Fridays from 4pm; Saturdays from 10am.

There are multiple volunteer positions to assist primary school children in KRN’s Literacy Mentoring Program.

This role includes:

  • assisting and guiding children with literacy.
  • basic alphabet/spelling
  • reading

No experience is required, training will be given to the volunteers, ideally this is a long term commitment to ensure consistency with the program.

Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m to 12.30 a.m. Volunteers are welcome to come at any time within this schedule.

Qualification or volunteer experience required: No experience required

Basic outline/duties of the volunteer opportunity: We would appreciate any help with the cleaning and sorting of the plastic waste that we collect in the locality for recycling. We have a backlog of plastic that needs washing and shredding to be made into new products.

Le Pont du Tamariner is looking for someone with good knowledge of healthy food and can prepare healthy snacks for children in the afternoons. The role includes preparation of snacks and cleaning of the kitchen.

This opportunity involves reading workshops with groups of children, assisting and teaching them important reading skills.

A long term position any time Monday to Friday.

Hope House is looking for an organised sales and marketing volunteer to assist in the selling of their locally made products. The key responsibilities will involve generating unique sales plans, creating advertising campaigns and promotional literature with the existing team at Hope House. The position will also involve creating and building relationships with new and existing retails sales outlets.
The applicant should have strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.

Provide in depth knowledge and understanding of sales and marketing, and have the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and business partners.

The responsibilities of the volunteer include:

  • Promoting the Hope House brands and the identification of new/potential products
  • Research and development of marketing plans and opportunities
  • Implementing and evaluating sales plans and advertising
  • Maintaining relationships with clients, suppliers and partners
  • Stock control through retailers

As there has been a surge in donations over the past few months, the Good Shop urgently requires volunteer assistance with the sorting and classifying of donated items for use within the second-hand shop, upcycling and recycling.
